This question is about what an actor does.

How many hours do actors work?

By - Mar. 13, 2023

Actors work 10 to 20 hours a day, six days a week when they are starring in a main role. Supporting actors can expect to work around 30 hours a week. It largely depends on the role, filming schedule, and film studio. Overall, work hours for an actor can be extensive and irregular.

An actor's work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Filming days can run from twelve to as many as twenty hours. Feature films may involve working five days a week and can last up to three months of shooting.

Consider this, a typical feature film includes two to four months of main shooting, during which the main cast and crew will work about 12 hours a day for about five days a week. If there are 22 working days each month, that's anywhere from 528 to 1056 hours of work for main shooting. It varies depending on the requirements of each film.

TV actors, conversely, spend 80 to 100 hours per week considering they work five days a week and 16- 18 hours a day. Some days, they end up shooting for 20 hours. It may be true for the lead actors but not for the part-time actors or actors with less screen time.
