How much do professional bowlers make?

By Zippia Team - Nov. 16, 2022

Professional bowlers with a PBA membership make $45,000 to $50,000 a year. However, these figures do not factor in sponsorship deals they may have, meaning they could be significantly higher earners for a given year.

Top-performing professional bowlers, like Walter Ray Williams Junior, make much more than the average professional bowler. Most top professional bowlers make around $250,000 to $300,000 per year.

Pro bowlers are different from a lot of other professional athletes in that they don't get binding contracts like those in team-based professional athletes. Essentially, they work as independent contractors. They play in PBA events as members of the PBA tour but don't hold any contractual obligations to the league itself.

Most pro bowlers have to pay their own travel expenses, living expenses, and tournament entry fees unless they have a sponsorship deal that states otherwise.
