How much does Walmart pay 16-year-olds?
Walmart pays 16-year-olds an average of $11.14 per hour. At most Walmart locations, a 16-year-old employee will have the position of a cashier or front service clerk. In most cases, the pay for these positions ranges from $8 to $14 per hour. There are some positions that require a minimum age of 18 years old.
Keep in mind that this is based on the minimum wage requirements for the state in which the restaurant is located. In some states where the cost of living is higher, it is possible to have a higher starting wage.
In September 2021, Walmart committed to raising its minimum wage to $12 per hour, which would amount to at least a dollar increase in hourly wages for more than 565,000 store workers. Walmart's average hourly wage will be $16.40.
