This question is about soldier salaries.
Separation pay in the military depends on several factors, including the type of separation and circumstances involved.
One type of separation pay issued by the military to its members is family separation pay or allowance. This payment is in addition to the standard military salary of a spouse deployed or stationed at a site and unable to bring their family.
FSA is $250 per month for the duration of time that the service member is separated from their spouse and family. This amount addresses any additional expenses incurred because of the service member's absence.
Another type of military separation pay is ISP or involuntary separation pay. This payment is available to service members who the military has discharged under good or normal circumstances. Service members must have served at least six years and fewer than 20 years to be eligible for ISP.
The amount received is based on a calculation that includes the service member's base pay and time served. A service member who served ten years earning $3,000 monthly at the time of separation would receive $36,000 in ISP.
