How old do you have to be to get an internship at a law firm?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Mar. 13, 2023

There is no age limit to getting an internship at a law firm. Rather than a set age limit, there are often educational requirements that can make it so that most applicants are around a specific age, but there is no set rule.

About 2/3 of law firm interns hold bachelor's degrees, meaning they are over 21, on average. There are some exceptions, but this is a good idea of the average age of those getting an internship at a law firm.

It may be possible to complete a law firm earlier, whether it is because you meet the requirements for the internship or because you have a connection that makes it possible for you. Completing an internship while still, an undergrad can be a great preparation for law school.
