How to become a certified medical assistant without going to school

By Zippia Team - Dec. 18, 2022

In most states, you do not need to hold certification to become a medical assistant, and in some cases, you can become certified without completing a program if you have sufficient work experience. However, it may be difficult to initially find a position without certification.

In most cases, certification will require completing a program before you can take the exam. However, you may be eligible to take the exam without having to go back to school. If you do have sufficient work experience, organizations like the National Healthcare Association offer experience eligibility for their accreditation programs.
