To become a property manager in Florida, you need to meet the education requirements, take a property management course, and get your property management license.

Meet the education requirements. The first step in how to obtain a property management license in Florida is meeting the requirements to enter the higher education program.

You need to have graduated from high school or earned your general education diploma (GED). You also must be at least 18 years old. These minimum requirements allow you to apply for entry to an approved real estate sales associate pre-licensing course.

Take a property management license Florida course. Next, you need to complete the real estate sales associate pre-licensing course approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission.

There is more than one course available and you must take and complete a minimum of 63 hours of coursework.

This is the introductory coursework to the larger licensing educational structure. It provides the foundation for other courses. You may complete the courses via correspondence, online, or in person, depending on the options the school you choose offers.

Give your electronic fingerprints. To obtain a license for property management in Florida, you must submit your electronic fingerprints.

You can do this through a FREC-approved electronic fingerprinting site. You can obtain the sites closest to you by calling (877) 238-8232. You then visit them, submit your prints, and then pay the fingerprinting fee.

Pass your Florida real estate associates exam. You must then sit for your Florida real estate associates exam. To qualify for a property management license you must score at least a 75% on the exam.

Obtain your Florida property management license. If you pass the test, you then receive your license through the mail. It generally takes around seven to 10 business days to receive your Florida property management license via the mail.
