How to calculate labor productivity

By Kate Swindlehurst - Apr. 2, 2023

You can calculate labor productivity by dividing the value of goods and services provided by total man-hours.

For example, if your company generated $50,000 worth of goods over a given time, which includes 1000 working man-hours, you need to take $50,000 divided by 1000, which gives you $50 for labor productivity.

In the above example, labor productivity comes out to $50. What that number represents is worker efficiency. Calculating a company's and individual workers' labor productivity is possible and extremely common. This can show how efficient a worker is compared to a company's overall efficiency.
