The most important thing to remember is to apply to as many trucking companies as possible. The more companies you apply to, the greater your chances of landing a job.

Don't forget to apply to the Mega Carriers. These larger companies are often in need of drivers and are the most likely place to give you a chance due to their staffing shortages. Some carriers run trucks that are not tractor-trailer units and they are often looking for drivers.

These can include:

• Straight trucks

• Construction companies (dump trucks)

• Townships

• County highway departments (plow and gravel trucks)

• Railroad companies (service trucks)

• Lumber yards (delivery trucks)

Your CDL license will allow you to drive all of these trucks and will be a great experience to include on your resume.
