This question is about social worker assistant certifications.
To get a license in social work, you must have a college degree and pass a licensing exam. For many social work positions, a bachelor's degree in social work is sufficient, although advanced social work careers often require a master's degree in social work.
After graduating, you need to take the Association of Social Work Board (ASWB) exam. Once you pass, you become a licensed social worker with an LSW. This is the initial license for social workers. After earning an LSW, social workers then typically gain 3,000 - 4,000 hours of supervised experience over two years.
After gaining that experience over two years, social workers then take other ASWB exams. They are either for clinical or advanced specialties. You can earn an LCSW, LICSW, or LISW from there. These prepare you for more careers as licensed social workers in specific subfields.
