This question is about resume.
You say quick learner on a resume by using quick learner synonyms. The fact of the matter is that saying "I am a quick learner" is a generic statement that can be found on practically every resume and cover letter in existence. It is a statement that will not get you any brownie points with the recruiter.
In fact, when career counselors and HR professionals were surveyed about the use of "quick learner" or "fast learner," they stated that these terms don't belong anywhere on a resume. Adam Rossi, CEO of TotalShield, suggests using quicker learner synonyms as an alternative.
Quick learner synonyms can include the following:
Adept
Flexible
Capable
Receptive
Adaptable
Sponge
Able to quickly grasp new concepts
The word "quick" is too subjective. What defines quick, and who is your quickness compared to? A more effective adjective to describe yourself is adaptable or flexible. These terms speak more readily to being able to think on your feet and to learning as you go.
Instead of saying I am a quick learner, emphasize challenges that you have overcome in the workplace. Discuss certain obstacles and challenges that you have faced or even projects that you have undertaken. Show how you were able to adapt and overcome. This is a sign that you learned quickly.
It is more important for an employer to see that you learn quickly than it is for you to tell them. Using objective language and dates, you can show how you moved up through positions or gained more responsibility with the tasks that were assigned to you over the years.
One of the most critical pieces of a resume is examples. There is not enough space to go into great detail about everything, but you can use specific examples to showcase your ability to learn quickly.
For example, if you advanced to a new position or had to step up and take on more responsibilities, you should mention this. Make sure you mention how well you managed the transition.
It is also important that you maximize the placement of your synonyms. Do not list quick learner under the skills part of your resume. This is not an easily quantifiable skill, and it can actually paint you in a negative light to have it listed here, as it shows a lack of creativity and uniqueness.
Focus your synonyms in the work experience section of your resume. The idea is to use concrete situations to show your ability without saying it directly.
