This question is about employee relations specialist resumes.
You would describe employee relations experience as skills, accomplishments, and responsibilities focused on improving relationships and collaboration in the workplace.
Employee relations is considered a subfunction or department that is usually within the HR or legal function of an organization. The employee relations function is generally tasked with three main responsibilities;
Developing workplace policies about employee conduct
Investigating any allegations of improper conduct (such as sexual harassment or discrimination complaints)
Handling grievances and resolving disputes that may arise between employees or between employees and management.
On a resume, you would describe your experience in ways that demonstrate your skills and accomplishments. For example, "Detail-oriented employee relations manager experienced in resolving employee grievances. Interpreted contracts, administered policy changes, and supervised a larger HR team.
Empathetic listener with well-honed negotiation skills. Developed automated procedures, EEO reports and used HRIS to manage benefits for over 500 employees."
When describing employee relations experience, you can use the good old STAR technique (Situation, Task, Action, and Result). This provides a way to highlight your responsibilities in ways that highlight your accomplishments.
For example, "Implemented and developed workshops and conferences that led to a resulting 21% increase in long-term employee satisfaction with the company."
