Yes, the valedictorian title is based on your class rank, which in turn, is determined by your GPA. This distinction is given to the class's top achiever and accounts for everything from GPA to participation in advanced programs, to attendance.

If there are many students in a class with the same 4.0 GPA, the other factors might be even more important as deciding factors. Don't fret though, as the second-highest achiever will also earn an honorary title, known as the salutatorian.

These rewards are most common in high schools, but can also be found in other educational settings.
