What are basic dental services?

By Zippia Team - Feb. 1, 2023

Basic dental services are typically treatments and procedures that are relatively straightforward in nature. They typically do not involve significant laboratory expenses for a dentist. Examples of these services include fillings, emergency care for pain relief, extractions, some root canals, and crowns.

Dental insurance plans typically cover basic services. PPO and Indemnity plans cover these services at a rate of around 70 to 80%. A deduction probably needs to be met before they are covered. HMO plans may require a small copayment for these services.

Along with these services, most basic dental plans also include routine care. Routine care includes things such as checkups, annual cleanings, and preventative x-rays.
