What are the pros and cons of being a server?

Pros:

• Flexible work hours. Servers are often available to work later in the afternoon and evening, which means you can work as a server even while going to school or completing other responsibilities you may have.

• Low requirements. Often, there are no requirements to begin being a server. This means you can start working even if you do not have much experience, making it a wonderful option for a first job or something to start with.

Cons:

• Physical demand. Servers are on their feet and moving around for entire shifts. They also need to carry heavy trays full of food and other items for their customers, which can be physically demanding and may be difficult for some people.

• Stressful customers. Any position where you work with the general public can be stressful, but working in the restaurant industry is even more unnerving. Customers can be rude and overly demanding, which can be extremely stressful for many people.
