What certifications do I need to work at a help desk?

By Zippia Team - Dec. 17, 2021

The certifications you need to work at a help desk include computer and network literacy, such as Security 5 Certification and Certified Network Computer Technician.

The Security 5 Certification by the EC-Council is entry-level for anyone interested in learning computer networking and security basics. It gives individuals basic networking literacy skills to begin high-end IT programs.

It requires more than two years of education or training after high school but doesn't need more than two years of work experience and should be renewed every three years.

The Certified Network Computer Technician (CNCT) is expected to obtain knowledge of basic computer electronics concepts, internet and networking technology applicable to various areas of the computer industry. It doesn't require post-secondary education or two years of work experience, and it should be renewed every four years.

Some other common certifications are HDI Desktop Support Technician (HDI), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT).
