What comes after valedictorian?

By Zippia Team - Jun. 29, 2022

The salutatorian title comes after valedictorian. In an academic setting, the second-highest achiever will typically earn the salutatorian title. In the event of a tie, there can even be two co-salutatorians.

And when we say tie, we mean it. Scoring for these titles can be incredibly close, and it's even possible for all two or three earners to have a 4.0 GPA. That's because when GPA's are too close to make a call, other factors can also play a role when deciding who earns these titles.

If you're a straight-A student, keep that in mind next time you're thinking about skipping class or doing the bare minimum, as those factors will also play a role in whether or not you become a valedictorian or salutatorian.
