What companies hire history majors?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Jun. 13, 2023

Companies in higher education, public relations, and journalism hire history majors. People who are interested in working in research and education can choose to pursue a doctorate in history and teach at universities. Similarly, many history majors go on to work for museums as museum curators.

Outside of education and museums, historians can work in public relations. It is not uncommon for history majors with experience in public relations to go on to careers at companies like Edelman or BCW. Large publications, like the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, also hire history majors who also have a background in writing.
