This question is about bank teller education.

What degree do you need to be a bank teller?

By Justin Parker - Feb. 20, 2023

You do not need a specific degree to be a bank teller, and most employers only require a high school diploma or GED as education requirements for bank tellers. However, an associate's degree in a related field can help you stand out as a job candidate, and a small portion of bank teller employers list this as a requirement.

Though most banks do not require their bank tellers to have degrees, if a bank teller is seeking to advance their career within the bank, they should seek to obtain at least an associate's degree, if not a bachelor's degree, in one of the following areas:

  • Business

  • Finance

  • Accounting

  • Economics
