What degree do you need to be a geologist?
A bachelor's degree is needed to be a geologist. While this degree will allow someone to gain entry into the profession, oftentimes, additional degrees are necessary for more advanced positions within the field.
There are numerous career paths within the field of geology, with the majority of geologists working in engineering services or as technical advisors. Approximately 7% of geologists work in the higher education field as researchers and instructors.
