What degree do you need to be a homicide detective?
You don't need a degree to become a homicide detective. In most cases, you are able to enter the field of law enforcement with a high school diploma or equivalent.
While not required, candidates have a better chance of earning a placement in a homicide unit if they have earned a two or four-year degree. An associate's degree in criminal justice will introduce you to current policies and recent changes in court systems and corrections.
