This question is about what a meteorologist does.

What degree do you need to be a meteorologist?

By Zippia Team - Sep. 7, 2022

You need a bachelor's degree in meteorology to be a meteorologist. Bachelor's degrees in geology or geography are also acceptable sometimes.

Most broadcast meteorologists have a bachelor's degree, however, meteorologists that want to work in research need to acquire a master's degree or PhD in meteorology.

These advanced degrees can also be quite helpful if you want to consult government or private companies as a meteorologist or become a professor of meteorology at a university.
