This question is about what a zoologist does.

What degree do you need to be a zoologist?

By Zippia Team - Sep. 7, 2022

You need a bachelor's degree in zoology to be a zoologist. A bachelor's degree in wildlife biology is also acceptable.

Generally, zoologists need either one of these bachelor's degrees for entry-level zoology positions. However, higher-level zoologist roles typically require at least a master's degree, and if someone wants to lead independent research as a zoologist, they need a Ph.D.

Master's and PhDs in zoology are also needed for university research positions.
