This question is about what a claims adjuster does.

What do entry-level claim adjusters do?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Jun. 12, 2023

Entry-level claim adjusters investigate customer coverage, reach a settlement, and report to senior adjusters. There are no formal education requirements to become a claim adjuster, which means that like many other jobs, you will need to start at the bottom and work your way up. Claim adjusters learn most of what they need to know on the job, and their expertise improves with the more time they spend working in the industry.

When claim adjusters begin working, they work under the supervision of a senior adjuster. This adjuster can help the entry-level worker with any questions or concerns that may arise. Many companies require entry-level claim adjusters to complete formal reports to submit to senior adjusters regarding their daily tasks.

Entry-level claim adjusters complete the same tasks as other claim adjusters, they just do so under the direction of a supervisor. They investigate customer coverage, inspect damage, evaluate the cost, determine liability, and reach a settlement. Before the settlement is final and delivered to a client, it must first be approved by a senior adjuster.
