What do you need to be a PE teacher?
To be a PE teacher, you will need to complete a bachelor's degree in a field related to physical education. While teaching requirements vary from state to state, a degree in something like physical education or sports science will help provide you with the skill set and tools necessary to become a successful PE teacher.
Classroom experience is vital in becoming an educator, and that includes physical education. Most bachelor's degree programs will include a state-approved teacher preparation program. This generally includes traditional classroom instruction as well as opportunities to shadow actual teachers in real classrooms and situations.
After graduation, most states will require prospective teachers to take and pass required tests to obtain a teaching license.
