This question is about what a teacher does.
To be a teacher in Florida, you are required to hold valid teacher certification. To be qualified for certification, you must first complete a bachelor's degree and then complete an accredited, state-approved teacher education program, including a final exam.
In Florida, state-approved teacher education programs are known as Educator Preparation Institutions (EPIs). Generally, this program can be completed in one or two semesters. It will include traditional classroom learning as well as on-the-job training After completing the program, you will then need to take and pass the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE).
In some instances, such as if you completed your education and teaching program in a different state, you may be qualified to receive a temporary certificate and then begin working while you work towards taking and passing FTCE. This temporary certificate is valid for three years.
Once you obtain FTCE certification, you may begin teaching in Florida state. Throughout your career, you will be required to complete some continuing education courses to continue to keep your license current and valid.
