What education is required to be a human resources analyst?

By Zippia Team - Dec. 17, 2021

The education required to be a human resources analyst is a bachelor's degree. To become a human resources analyst, a person needs to possess a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or other related fields.

However, the easiest way to start a career in human resources analytics is to first pursue a master's in business administration and work as a human resources generalist. This will develop a person's skill set in talent management, payrolls, and other varied human resources functions.

Additionally, a person will need three years of work experience to develop an analytical mindset to manipulate and translate large volumes of data to meaningful solutions. They should also know how databases, systems, and processes work and strong operational capabilities across the Microsoft office suite and machine learning applications.

This technical knowledge can be gained through a certification or course on human resources information systems, machine learning, and data management online. Another option available is to study big data analytics and learn R or Python to develop coding and machine learning skills, then move into a human resources generalist role.
