This question is about magna vs summa cum laude gpa.
What GPA do you need to graduate magna cum laude?
You need a GPA between 3.7 and 3.9 to graduate with a magna cum laude. While you do need a high GPA for magna cum laude, it falls right below summa cum laude in the Latin hierarchy of grades.
This distinction can usually be earned when you receive mostly A's with only one or two exceptions. That makes it more reachable than summa cum laude, but if you already earn almost all A's, you might want to set up your class and study schedule in a way where you can boost yourself just high enough to earn the highest distinction.
Either way though, the magna cum laude title is a great accomplishment you should be proud of. Only the top 5-20% of students are awarded the distinction of magna cum laude.
