Post job

This question is about what a probation officer does.

What hours do probation officers work?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Mar. 13, 2023

Probation officers work 9-to-5 hours Monday through Friday. This is typical for many professions. Sometimes, probation officers may need to work weekends to accommodate different schedules and situations, but this is not standard.

While probation officers typically work 40-hour weeks, they may need to work more on weeks that require them to meet deadlines, conduct investigations, or appear in court. These require additional planning and working that may require additional working hours for that week or time frame.
