What industry is construction?

Construction is part of the goods-producing industries supersector group. Although many people may think that construction is part of the service industry, governments, economists, and financial experts all classify it as the goods-producing sector.

The construction sector includes establishments primarily engaged in the construction of buildings or engineering projects such as bridges, highways, or utility systems. Establishments that focus on preparing sites for new construction and establishments that prepare the land to be subdivided for sale are also considered construction.
