What is a CPIM certification?
A certified production and inventory management (CPIM) certification in supply chain management proves that an individual has skills in maximizing ROI, minimizing cost, and managing production and inventory. APICS awards the CCP certification.
Candidates have no prerequisites. However, they must pass two exams within a three-year time frame. The test consists of five modules. The first part of the exam can take up to three and a half hours and consist of 150 questions to cover module one, which is supply chain management.

Master Planning of Resources
Detailed Scheduling and Planning
Execution and Control of Operations
APICS offers a membership that can affect your cost of certification. It costs $220 a year to become an APICS PLUS member or $180 a year to become a CORE member.
The learning system used to prepare for the test is purchased in two parts. Cost varies depending on your APICS membership. For nonmembers, the total cost is $1,240, while for members, the total cost is $890. There is a learning system available to prepare for the test as well.
Other options for preparation include enrolling in an online course offered through the American Public University System (APUS) or taking instructor-led classes via an APICS chapter.
The exam cost varies depending on your membership. It is $495 per exam for members and $690 for nonmembers. A retest is $250 per exam. Members can purchase a bundle that includes the learning system and exams for $1,680.
The CPIM certification takes anywhere from 175 to 225 hours to complete. The certification is valid for three years and can be kept current by acquiring 75 hours of professional development every five years.
