This question is about pool service technician certifications.
A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) is a certification in pool and spa health, safety, and maintenance, that proves an individual has skills in operating, and servicing public and residential pools and spas. This certification is administered by the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA).
This certification is often a requirement for pool service technicians, depending on the state in which they work. The CPO certification is valid for five years, upon expiring, certification holders must recertify.
This can be a mandatory certification for pool service technicians operating in certain states and regions. However, it is also a useful certification for anyone working in the pool and spa industry.
The course given by the PHTA covers many different areas of concern for pool and spa knowledge, including, but not limited to:

The CPO certification is accredited across the United States, Canada, and 105 countries around the world. To obtain this certification you must pass an open-book exam. Courses and exams can be taken in person or online.
