A level 1 background check is a lower-level check of someone's background typically conducted for employment reasons. There are several characteristics of a level 1 check, including the databases used for the background check and the subject information used.
Level 1 background checks are conducted on the local or state level. This means that subject information is used to look up employment history as well as any criminal history within a region or state. A level 1 check will also run applicant information through the national sex offender registry.
Another quality of a level 1 background check relies on name-only information. Unlike level 2 checks, here only the applicant's name is used to check the aforementioned areas of interest. More advanced background checks may use fingerprints, social media, and financial screenings to vet candidates.
