Provider Enrollment Chain and Ownership System (PECOS) certification is a verification that a person is enrolled in the Online Medicare enrollment management system. It allows people and businesses to enroll as Medicare suppliers or providers.

PECOS represents that a clinic or a provider is enrolled in Medicare participation and is permitted to treat and care for Medicare patients. PECOS enrollment needs to be renewed every 3 to 5 years.
