This question is about rehabilitation technician certifications.
A Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT) certification is a certification that shows that an individual has skills in counseling for substance abuse, recovery, and drug and alcohol addiction. The RADT certifications are administered by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP).
CCAPP offers three main certifications in the field of substance abuse recovery and drug addiction and alcohol dependence recovery, including:
RADT I
RADT II
RADT II
In order to become a RADT, you must complete a nine-hour orientation, which is an introduction to the addiction counseling profession. These nine hours include three hours about ethics, three hours regarding confidentiality and the remaining three hours cover professional boundaries.
You also need to sign the RADT Scope of Practice document and submit a copy of your current driver's license.
There is a $40 payment that will need to be made for any of these certifications. After you complete these steps, it can take several weeks before you are approved and your RADT certification is active and valid.
RADT certifications must be renewed each year. Coursework for RADT certifications includes:
Introduction to drug and alcohol addiction
Physiology and pharmacology of alcohol and other drugs
Case management
Laws and ethics
Personal and professional growth
Individual, group, and family counseling
