What is an ARRT certification?

If you happen to work in a state that does not require this, you still might want to consider getting certified by the ARRT. This can help you stand out as a candidate and speak to your knowledge, competence, and dedication.

• Exam

The ARRT exam contains 200 questions, most of which are multiple-choice. Certification obtained from the passing of this exam is valid for two years, after which time you need to have completed 24 hours of continuing radiologic technology education for renewal.

• MRI technician

To become an MRI technician you must also gain certification from an accredited organization. Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is the most common in the industry. You can seek out certification by completing an MRI technology program and gaining some professional experience.

• X-ray technician

You need an associate's degree in radiologic technology to be an x-ray technician. These associate degree programs prepare you to work as an essential unit of a medical team by developing your patient care skills, technical knowledge and abilities, and analytical assets. You study medical areas such as:

• Anatomy

• Physiology

• X-ray physics

• X-ray technology

• Radiographic procedures

Most associate programs also have clinical rotations included within them.

X-ray techs greatly benefit from the ARRT certification. Most medical employers prefer this certification and some even require it. Depending on the state in which you become an x-ray technician an ARRT certification may or may not be a requirement as well.
