What is an HHA certification?

By Zippia Team - Nov. 16, 2022

Home Health Aide (HHA) certification is a credential offered through the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC). It is required certification to begin working as a home health aide. It covers a variety of topics, and the certification represents a general understanding of the skills and knowledge necessary for success as a home health aide.

To get certified, you will need to first complete a training program. The NAHC provides a list of registered programs, and this is a great place to find an appropriate program. Typically, the training requires 120 hours of classroom training and 40 to 60 hours of clinical work. After completion of the program, you will need to take and pass the exam to become certified.
