Pitching a product is the process of presenting a product and its benefits to a consumer. Similar to a sales pitch, where the entire business is the focus, a product pitch can focus on the details and attributes of a single product.

A well-constructed product pitch can identify the problem for which the product has been created. This problem may be common and affect a great number of people or specific and have a smaller target audience. Next, the pitch should explain how the product solves the identified problem. Here it is important to identify the details of the product and how they are designed to remedy the issue.

A good product pitch also includes data. Consumers want to know that a product does what it claims to do and research can address that concern. Research is also helpful in identifying the problem or issue. The need for a product that addresses tooth discoloration must first prove that consumers are dissatisfied with the appearance of their teeth. Once this is established, data reflecting the effectiveness of the product in improving or whitening their teeth can be introduced.
