By Zippia Team - Jan. 8, 2023

There is no highest-paid branch of the military; all military members are paid according to their rank, time in service, location of duty station, and job specialty.

The lowest roles in the military, like an Army private or a Navy seaman recruit, are paid according to their pay grade of E-1. While the highest-ranking officers, regardless of what branch of the military they serve under, are paid according to their pay grade of O-10.

E-1 pay grade, regardless of the branch of the military, receives monthly payments of $1,650 to $1,785. While O-10 pay grade, regardless of the branch of the military, they receive a monthly pay of $16,608 per month.

Here are the different military ranks, these apply to all branches of the military, and each is consistent with a specific pay grade:

  • E-1 thru E-9

  • W-1 thru W-5

  • O-1E thru O-3E
