What is the hiring process at College Board?

By Zippia Team - Jul. 28, 2022

The hiring process at College Board is fairly rigorous and includes at least two rounds of interviews and the completion of a work project. The entire process takes between three to eight weeks, depending on the position and the need to fill that position.

Application Process

Check out the College Board career website for more information about open positions and to read up on job descriptions. To apply for a position, you first need to create an account with a username and password. This allows you to check on the status of your application at any time during the process.

Phone Screening

Depending on the position, the phone screening can include anywhere from one to three phone calls with the recruiter from College Board, the hiring manager, or a potential teammate. The phone screenings are a way for College Board to better understand your background and qualifications for the position.

It is also a chance for you to get to learn more about the positions and the company. If the phone screenings go well, the next step is to schedule your interview sessions.

Interview

The interview process involves a series of interviews and a work project. It typically takes place in three steps, one- interview with the manager, a second exercise (backlog prioritization and user story), and a third interview with the team. The interview process usually takes between two to three weeks.

Most of the questions are related to job-specific technical skills and personality questions.

For leadership or project management positions, anticipate having five back-to-back interviews. That includes a round with HR, department leads, and the hiring manager.

After the initial interview round, be prepared to spend three to four hours on a "project" prior to moving forward to the final interview rounds. The project may include running through mock case studies or creating a database, or running data analysis and presenting the findings.
