This question is about Pacific Gas and Electric and Pacific Gas and Electric jobs.
The hiring process at Pacific Gas and Electric Company is multifaceted and includes a phone screening, assessment test, interview rounds, and a comprehensive background and drug screening process. The entire hiring process at Pacific Gas And Electric (PG&E) takes anywhere from two to three months.
PGE's Application Process:
You must have a Talent Profile (My Candidate Profile) with a secure, private password in order to submit an online application. Completing your profile is key. The easiest way to create your profile is to upload your resume - the details are then loaded into your profile automatically.
Doing this saves you time in the future. Because, to be considered for a position at PGE, you must use your profile to apply, with a resume attached.
When applying, and to ensure proper consideration, you must complete an online application (a resume is required). You can submit an unlimited number of applications; however, only one application can be submitted per open job posting.
We encourage you to be strategic about the positions you apply for. In other words, a wider net is not necessarily an advantage and can raise questions about your interests and intention.
Once you apply, you'll receive communication at key points, and your application status also changes under the Job Applications tab to the left. Feel free to check back whenever you want to see where you stand in PGE's recruiting process.
PGE's Phone Screening:
The first step is for a PGE HR recruiter to reach out to you via the phone for a brief conversation. This is really meant as an introduction. The recruiter wants to let you know more about the position and company and its culture and values.
PGE's Assessment Test:
Some positions require that candidates take and pass one or more pre-employment tests. Depending on which test(s) are required, assessments may be delivered online or in person. You have five calendar days to take the test upon receiving the vendor's email with the test key.
Depending on the job, these may include tests of general ability, job-specific skills, job knowledge, or work-related attitudes/behaviors. These tests fairly and efficiently evaluate job seekers and applicants and help to ensure those hired are likely to be successful and safe on the job.
If you are selected to move forward in the hiring process, you may be invited to take one or more of these tests online.
Internet-based Testing (IBT): Four of PGE's pre-employment tests - the Physical Test Battery (PTB), Industrial Skills Test (IST), Clerical Test Battery (CTB), and Work Orientation Inventory (WOI) tests - are now delivered online.
PGE's Interview Sessions:
Common Pacific Gas and Electric Company interview questions include:
What is your greatest strength? What is your greatest weakness? Why do you want to join our team?
What would you do to improve the workplace?
How would you verify if a device is connected to the internet?
How would you rate your skills with outlook? What is an ost file?
What does ergonomics mean to you?
How would you direct a customer to find their IP address?
How would you handle a fast-paced environment? This is a 24-hour center. Are you willing to work overtime?
Safety is important, and you understand that it is necessary to follow for the safety of customers. How would you handle a safety issue when it is presented to you?
PGE's Post-Offer Pre-Employment Screening
Additional screening that you need to go through before you can be hired at PGE may include:
Criminal Background
DMV record
Drug Screening
Education
Post-Offer Physical Assessment (for certain positions)
PGE's Decision and Offer Stage:

This offer will include details about your position such as job responsibilities, start date, compensation, benefits, and other employment terms. Note that the job offer is ultimately contingent upon successfully passing the post-offer pre-employment screening.
If you choose to accept, you will proceed with the post-offer screening process. Once you pass all required screenings, an official start date will be confirmed and you'll be ready to start your career at PGE.
PGE's Onboarding Process:
Once you've accepted the job offer and cleared all screenings, you'll enter the onboarding phase. This includes completing necessary paperwork, orientation sessions and training programs tailored to your role.
