This question is about Square jobs.
The hiring process at Square varies by position and usually takes several weeks from start to finish due to the background checks that are required.
There are 3 basic steps to the hiring process at Square:
Application: Prospective employees are encouraged to explore the Square careers webpage and get information on Square's business, culture, and available jobs.
You are also encouraged to read about "Life at Square" to get insight on working on Square and life inside and outside of the office.
Once an opportunity of interest has been identified, prospects are encouraged to apply via the Square career page. You will be prompted to click the button that says "I am interested" for your desired position. This will open a new window where you will fill out an online application form.
You can apply using your LinkedIn profile, SmartrProfile, or Indeed profile. You may also upload a copy of your resume from your laptop or computer and it will autocomplete your application for you.
There may be pre-screening text messages or assessments that will be sent to you or you will be contacted by a member of the internal recruitment team regarding next steps.
Please note that full COVID19 vaccination may be a condition of employment depending on the role and location of the job. If you have concerns, please discuss this with a member of the internal recruitment team.
Interview: After you submit your application, it will be reviewed by a member of the internal recruitment team. If your skills seem to be a match for the role, you will be contacted to set up a phone interview.
During the phone interview, you will discuss the role in greater detail and get to ask any questions you have regarding the role and/or the company. They will be looking specifically for your past work experiences and why you are interested in working for Square. If you are still interested and the recruitment team feels that you are a good fit, you will move on to the panel interview.
The panel interview usually takes place with the team that you would be working with. This interview is for you to learn more about the team, the role and responsibilities, and the workflow. Come prepared to speak about specific projects you have worked on in the past, how you collaborate with others, and your career goals. Depending on the role, this interview may also include cross-functional partners.
In every interview, Square wants to get an understanding of how you collaborate and your approach to solving problems. For most roles at Square, you will be asked to complete a project, walk through a case study, or provide a portfolio of your previous work. Engineering roles will have your technical abilities evaluated using pair-programming.
Typical interview questions include:
"Can you describe how you solve complex problems?"
"How do you deal with difficult stakeholders?"
"How do you avoid distractions at work?"
"Why are you looking to leave your current position/company?"
"What are your thoughts on workplace inclusion?"
Offer and Onboarding: If you are selected for the role, a member of the internal recruitment team will contact you to review the offer letter details, benefits, and more information on your new career at Square. If you are not selected, you will receive communication from a member of the Square team.
