By Zippia Team - Jul. 8, 2022

The hiring process at Wayfair is multifaceted and customized based on the position that you are applying to. The hiring process may include some or all of the following: phone screening, assessment, and interview (s). The entire process takes anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks.

Participating in a culture conversation with an Ambassador during the interview process will allow you to ask questions in a confidential format, including discussion about being a Wayfairian through the perspectives of individuals with shared experiences.

  • Also, please share your desired total compensation package.

Wayfair's Phone Screening:

The initial phone screening takes place with an HR recruiter. This is really meant as an introduction to the company and discussion of the position and hiring process. The entire call lasts between 10 to 15 minutes.

Wayfair's Assessment Test:

Depending on the position, you may be asked to do a case study or an assessment test. Managers and technical positions are more likely to be asked to complete a case study. For product management or technical engineering positions this may include up to 4 case studies.

A sales position or data analyst, on the other hand, are more likely to be asked to take an assessment test customized to that position. The data analyst, for instance, is given an assessment on coding, data sets, and data processing.

Wayfair enjoys using case studies because they force a candidate to solve cases or business problems they would never have to do in the role. The assessment test, on the other hand, is easy and involves just 10 basic knowledge questions.

Interview Session(s)

Typically a candidate must face several rounds of interviews. The first is usually with HR and is more casual. You may be asked a couple of basic questions about your resume and desire to work at Wayfair.

The second interview is usually with the hiring manager and is a more technical and job-specific interview and a deep dive into your skills and experience. The final round may include a group of people such as the manager, various department leads, and potential team mates.
