To be a communications director, you will usually need at least a bachelor's degree. Most communication directors hold degrees in areas such as marketing, journalism, psychology, and of course, communications.

Usually, in order to qualify for any "director" title, you must also have over a decade of experience under your belt. Many communications directors hold master's degrees as well, but this is not an explicit requirement.
