By Zippia Team - Nov. 16, 2022

You should study science to become a pediatrician. To become a pediatrician, you need to earn a bachelor's degree. Then you need to attend medical school and obtain your medical degree. Last but not least, you must complete a residency and become licensed to practice medicine.

The foundation for becoming a pediatrician is your bachelor's degree. You need this to apply for medical school. Most medical schools have requirements as to certain classes students need to have already taken. These classes are primarily science courses and include things such as biology, chemistry, and physics.

Pediatricians can also choose to become board certified. You can get certified in general pediatrics or in a subspecialty such as pediatric endocrinology or adolescent medicine. In order to take the certifying exam, you have to have graduated from medical school, completed your three-year residency, and had your medical license.
