What states have teacher's unions?
Every state in the United States has a teacher's union. Although every state has at least one teachers union, not every state allows collective bargaining by the union.
The NEA (National Education Association) is a well-known and likely the largest teacher's union in the United States. The unions are intended to improve the personal and professional lives of teachers. In most states, teacher's unions are highly recommended due to their power to collectively bargain.
Collective bargaining allows the larger group to have representatives who negotiate things like salary and vacation time on their behalf. There are five states that prohibit collective bargaining; Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
The simple answer is yes, all states have teacher's unions, but they do not all have the same rights and benefits. These can vary by state.
