This question is about psychiatrist education.
To become a psychiatrist, you need to major in psychology or pre-medicine.
A candidate must first complete a bachelor's degree. Typically, a bachelor's degree in psychology or pre-medicine is suggested.
Although many programs will tell you, you do not need to specifically determine one of these as your bachelor's degree, it is ideal. It is important to include an ample amount of math and science in your undergraduate degree. The candidate is then required to attend medical school and major as a Doctor of Medicine or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Once your education is completed you will be required to complete a residency and become licensed.
