What to wear to a business dinner

Jeans are usually inappropriate for business dinners. However, this may depend on the colleagues you meet for a business dinner and their industry.

For most business dinners, you should wear clean, fitted, pressed clothes that are gray or in darker tones. White-collared button-down shirts are also a good addition. Ties are optional unless the restaurant you are eating at requires them.

For women attending a business dinner, you should wear a pants suit, formal dress, or skirt and a tasteful blouse. Appropriate footwear for a business dinner for both sexes includes:

• Dress shoes (brown or black)

• Dress boots

• Flats

You should never wear sandals or any open-toed shoes to a business dinner.
