Where do monitor technicians work?

By Zippia Team - Mar. 26, 2022

Monitor technicians work in hospitals and other health care centers that provide treatment relating to heart health. They work in any medical setting where there is a need to monitor irregular heartbeats, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest using specific EKG and heart monitoring technologies and tests.

Monitor technicians typically work day and night shifts in a hospital setting and report directly to a lead nurse or doctor. During their shifts, they observe heartbeats and electrocardiograms (EKGs) to assist with interpreting and diagnosing conditions related to the heart.

Depending on the health center, monitor technicians may also be required to work day or night shifts. Especially if it's a comprehensive medical center specializing in trauma, burn, surgical, behavioral health, and diagnostic services, along with a wide range of patient and community services.

In contrast, working at an outpatient medical center may only require working weekdays.
