Who owns Cabela's?

The company was founded in 1961 by Richard Cabela when he started filling fishing fly mail orders with his wife from their home in Chappell, Nebraska. Richard's brother Jim joined the business in 1963, and their business grew, producing nearly 50 catalogs annually and shipping affordable, high-quality outdoor equipment to all 50 states.

They opened their first retail store location in 1987 in Sidney, Nebraska, where they are now headquartered. Cabela's continued to grow and add additional retail stores throughout the United States and became a publicly traded company in 2004.

Cabela's has products for every outdoor enthusiast ranging from hunting, camping, and fishing gear to recreational shooting and outdoor clothing. Its goal is to become the world's foremost outfitter by delivering innovation, quality, and value in its products and services.

In 2021, Cabela's annual revenue was $4.1 billion, and it had approximately 19,000 employees.
